Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvOne of the worst things that can go wrong when moving is accidentally shattering your television. All of use at Oil Capitol Relocation, we know it really sucks to break your TV during the move. We want to make sure your move is as easy as we can here in Little Rock, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. We know how hard it can be, so we’ve put together this list of tips and tricks to help when packing up your TV.

First off, you will have to have a box that’s the right size for transporting your TV. The perfect thing to use is the box that your TV originally came in – if you kept that. If you threw it out, you can buy a package designed for moving televisions from either a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should find a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. Transporting expensive and delicate items requires packing and preparation training and knowledge, not just moving trucks or specialized equipment. At Oil Capitol Relocation we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move, however they can, even getting your TV ready to load.

Before anything else, a good idea is to take a photo of the back of the television with all the cords connected. This will make everything way easier when the time comes to reinstall your television. After taking a picture, get your TV ready to pack up. First take out the main power cord, then unplug all other connecting wire. Put all of them inside a bag together and keep it with the TV. You may have a base you must remove from the television so you can get it into the box. If this is the case, get everything in a reclosable bag and keep it with the base so it won’t get lost.

After this is done, you can get the TV all packed up. It doesn’t matter whether your new home is far from Little Rock or you are just moving locally, it’s very important to see that your television is fully covered. Get foam pieces to cover the TV screen, you will find some in your kit if you got one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen protected, but it also will stop your television from shifting around in the box during the move. You can secure the foam pieces with mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and prevent it from being scratched.

After your TV is totally covered up it’s finally time to place it inside of the box! Keep it upright as you do this, and secure it as well as you can by filling in spaces with blankets or even clothes. This will help keep the TV from moving around in the box during the move.

loading boxes into truck Finally, get the television into the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Keep the box upright and get it next to other flat surfaced, secure items, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. You can’t forget to put your cables with the TV, in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

After that you’re ready! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Little Rock to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, Oil Capitol Relocation has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distance move.
