Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvSomething awful that can go wrong when you’re moving is finding out your TV was shattered. Here at Oil Capitol Relocation, we know how terrible it is to to finally get all moved in but not be able to sit down and relax in front of the TV because it broke. We want to make your move as stressless as we can here in Little Rock, whether your move is local or long distance. To help you out we decided to get together a few tips and tricks to use when you are getting your TV ready for the move.

First and foremost, you will have to have a box that’s the right size for moving your television. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a good idea – if you kept it. If you threw it out, you can purchase a box designed for moving flat-screen TVs from somewhere like a hardware store or a moving supply retailer. You should get a box that is just somewhat bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile and large items requires packing and moving training and knowledge, not only big moving trucks or specialized equipment. At Oil Capitol Relocation we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move, however they can, even if that means securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly.

Before anything else, a great thing to do is take a photo of the back of the television with all of the cords connected. This will make everything much easier when it’s time to reinstall your television. After taking a picture, you can start getting your TV ready to go. Unplug it and take out the main power cord, then all the other connecting wire. Get all of it in a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. You may have a base you have to take off of the television to get it into the box. If this is the case, get everything in a little bag and keep it with the TV so it won’t get lost.

After getting all of the cords and wires separated from the TV, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if you are moving far from Little Rock or you are just moving locally, it’s important to make sure your television is properly covered. You should use foam pieces to cover the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if you got one, or in the box that your TV came in if you still have that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen safe, but it also keeps your television from moving around in the box during your move. You can secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and stop it from getting scratched.

Once your TV is all covered up it’s up to you to get it into the box! Keep the television upright when you do this, and secure it by filling holes with blankets. This will help keep the TV from moving around in the box during the move.

After that you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Little Rock to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, Oil Capitol Relocation has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
